Santhi Wulandari was a masteress in the ancient art of batik. For hours she would coat the materials with wax patterns creating intricate and beautiful designs. Carefully she would select only the most luxurious of the royal dyes. Santhi created etheral masterpieces on silky tropical fabrics to be made into royal garmens the beautiful princesses as they strolled the beaches at sunset.
Sadly Santhi was the last masteress of the art of batik. Industrialization swept through the once sacred art of textile creation, replacing it will a cold, heartless process. A process devoid of the beauty and mystique of lush tropical islands, off shore breezes sweeping in melodic bird calls and the smell of the sea. Santhi Wulandari tried valiently to withstand the violent assualt of the unaesthetic fabrics being mass produced, and she may have. . . . if she hadn't been surfing through e-bay one day.
